Sheikh Abbas Bin Mohd

I am a researcher based in Glasgow and an advocate enrolled in India, working on security governance, national-security law and emerging security technologies. My professional legal research in India has focused on criminal, national-security and financial-crime matters.

Since 2021 I have been a Research Assistant at Falcon Legal Chambers, researching national-security and financial-crime matters in India. That professional research informs my academic work.

My research follows three connected lines: human control and accountability in autonomous weapons; counter-terrorism law and preventive detention in India; and AI, governance and geopolitics.

I hold an MSc in Global Security from the University of Glasgow, where I wrote my dissertation on The Role of Autonomous Weapon Systems in Unintended Engagements: A Case Study of the U.S. Patriot Missile System in the Iraq War. Before that I completed a BA-LLB at the University of Kashmir School of Law, graduating with the equivalent of first-class honours.
